There is little doubt that Steve McGarrett has been through a lot throughout the past seasons of Hawaii Five-0. However, the latest episode of Season 10 may have revealed that McGarrett has yet to face bigger problems. Alex O'Loughlin confirmed this as he discussed what would happen in Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 7. Unfortunately, the episode proved that McGarrett's greatest heartbreak still involves family.

Hawaii Five-0 fans are well aware that Steve McGarrett sees Danny 'Danno' Williams and the rest of H50 as his ohana. However, that doesn't mean that he doesn't have any blood relatives that he still somehow cares about. Back in the third season, it was revealed that McGarrett's mother Doris was actually a CIA operative who had faked her death. Although Doris has a strained relationship with her son, the two still manage to cooperate from time to time.

But could the loss of Doris McGarrett actually have a huge effect on her son? Alex O'Loughlin may have confirmed that his mother's death in Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 7 might be too much for Steve McGarrett. While talking about the episode he directed, O'Loughlin pointed out that his character is all about his family, which he keeps losing. With that in mind, there was only one way to wrap up Doris' storyline.

In Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 7, Steve McGarrett is sent to Mexico to find Doris after a CIA operative is killed by a bullet matching Doris' service issued weapon. Although the two are reunited in 'Ka 'i'o', McGarrett never got to redeem his mother as she is stabbed. Unfortunately, Doris dies in the episode and it clearly leaves her son brokenhearted. But will Doris' death finally push McGarrett to leave H50?

Although most fans have been worried that Alex O'Loughlin will be leaving the CBS series soon, it seems like Steve McGarrett is here to stay. After all, he still has his ohana in his team, who continue to support him every step of the way. Hopefully, McGarrett will be able to accept Doris' death by the next episode.

The upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 was actually co-written by one of its stars. Chi McBride's episode is titled 'Ne'e aku, ne'e mai ke one o Punahoa' ('That way and this way shifts the sand of Punahoa'). This time, the team has to find a killer who ended up in the jungle with $10 million worth of heroin when his plane crashes. The only way to do this is to work with a DEA agent.

Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 8 will air on CBS on November 15.
