It's no secret that Rey is going to be training to be a Jedi in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker so she can go up against Kylo Ren. Interestingly, it looks like the girl from Jakku will be getting help from a truly unexpected source. A new leak from Star Wars Episode 9 has finally confirmed that Rey is getting a new mentor after the death of Luke Skywalker. Amazingly, the new mentor is someone that people have been speculating about for a long time.

The trailers for Star Wars Episode 9 have already shown footage of Rey's training in a mysterious planet covered in trees. The scenes appear to show Rey going through her training alone as she goes through the forest. However, fans have been quick to point out that the brief shots showing General Leia Organa seem to be in the same location. Luckily, new details from The Rise of Skywalker has confirmed that Leia is doing more than just keeping Rey company as the younger girl goes through her training.

The confirmation comes from a description of General Leia Organa's costume that was displayed during a Star Wars Episode 9 press junket. The small card reads, "General Leia Organa continues to lead the heroic Resistance, building back a fighting force after having suffered costly setbacks. Leia is also training Rey in the ways of the Force, for the galaxy still has need of a Jedi."

It's an amazing revelation that confirms General Leia Organa will still play a major role in Star Wars Episode 9. In addition to that, it proves an old Star Wars theory was right all along. People have long speculated that Leia underwent Jedi training with her brother Luke Skywalker. However, Leia chose not to continue with her training so she could lead the Resistance against the First Order.

It's important to point out that Leia Organa actually went through Jedi training in the Star Wars Expanded Universe novels. Unfortunately, the books were considered non-canon when Disney acquired Star Wars. Nevertheless, it looks like The Rise of Skywalker will make sure that this part of Leia's story will be canon all over again.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will feature unused footage of the late Carrie Fisher to show General Leia Organa training Rey to become a Jedi. The film is scheduled for release on December 20.
