Due to Buckingham Palace's refusal to fulfill Prince Harry's request, he and his bride Meghan Markle took independent action in the United States.

The Duke of Sussex has had extremely tense relations with the royal family for an extended period of time, and these relations have now nearly ceased to exist. Prince Harry currently resides in the United States alongside his spouse Meghan Markle and their two offspring, Archie and Lilibet. They maintain minimal communication with their relatives in the United Kingdom.

Amidst his decision to relinquish royal responsibilities in 2020, Prince Harry allegedly made a specific appeal to Buckingham Palace since he was unable to attend a significant national occasion. Due to COVID-19 limitations, travel was significantly limited, preventing Harry from returning to the U.K.

As reported by the Sunday Times, he strongly desired a wreath of poppies to be placed at the Cenotaph on his behalf at the Remembrance Day service. He personally requested this from the Palace. Evidently, the courtiers declined his request due to his loss of representation of the monarchy.

According to reports, the Queen was not aware of her grandson's desire and he felt "profoundly saddened" by the choice. His resignation from his royal duties months ago was widely interpreted as a definitive indication that his formal connections to the family had been irrevocably severed. Spokespersons for Prince Harry and the Palace refrained from providing any comments at that moment.

At the solemn London event, Prince Charles and Prince William were observed planting wreaths, with Charles specifically placing one in honor of his mother, who was absent on that occasion. Prince Harry spent ten years in the military and completed two deployments in Afghanistan. However, he resigned from his positions, including the role of Captain General of the Royal Marines, when he decided to leave royal life and move to California.

Prince Harry assumed the role of an advocate for the Invictus Games, a sporting competition specifically designed for service men and women who have been wounded, sick, or disabled. He initiated the event in 2014.

Prince Harry and Meghan, who were not present for the Remembrance Day celebration in London, chose to place floral wreaths, crafted from flowers personally selected from their garden, at the graves of two commonwealth soldiers in the Los Angeles National Cemetery. Furthermore, he participated in a podcast where he emphasized the significance of the memorial day.

"Remembrance Day for me is a moment for respect and for hope. I wear it [the poppy] to celebrate the bravery and determination of all our veterans. These are the people and moments I remember when I salute, when I stand at attention and when I lay a wreath at the Cenotaph,” Prince Harry stated in a recording for the "Declassified" podcast, as per The Mirror.
