Huawei announced today its latest smart wearable, the Huawei Watch GT 2. The announcement comes just a few days after Apple launched its very own Apple Watch Series 5. Both smartwatches come with their own unique features, but Apple is missing the sleep tracking feature that many consumers want.
The Apple Watch Series 5 that was unveiled a few days ago comes with several new features including the always-on Retina display, period tracking, a built-in compass, and activity stats. But, it lacks the single basic function-sleep tracking. It is easy to see why Apple missed to include the sleep tracking feature in its latest smart wearable.
One reason could be associated with the Apple Watch Series 5's battery life. Although the low-temperature polysilicon and oxide display of the latest smartwatch from Apple is designed to preserve power, it still has 18 hours of battery life, just like its predecessors, Series 3 and Series 4. It is also clear to see that Apple's main focus for this particular series is heart health features.
Today, Huawei launch the Huawei Watch GT 2, which is also the Chinese company's latest attempt to take down the Apple Watch Series 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. Unlike Apple, the latest Huawei smart wearable features the Huawei TruRelax.
This particular feature packs the latest technology to help users relieve stress by tracking and recording HRV or Heart Rate Variability values. It also gives feedback on the user's stress index. The Huawei Watch GT 2 prides in its ability to monitor sleep through its TruSleep 2.0 feature.
The TruSleep 2.0 feature of Huawei Watch GT 2 tracks the user's sleep quality, real-time heart rate, and even sleep breathing quality. It utilizes big data analysis to rate the user's quality of sleep. Furthermore, it uses AI technology to evaluate and analyze sleep problems.
Additionally, this feature offers sleep improvement recommendations and personalized sleep reports and services to aid in improving the quality of sleep. The Huawei Watch GT 2 is loaded with several other features like step tracking, sedentary alerts, and a plethora of other features intended to help improve the user's quality of life.

When set to sports mode, the Huawei Watch GT 2 can track 15 sports including eight outdoor sports and seven indoor sports. Outdoor sports that can be tracked using the latest Huawei smart wearable includes running, cycling, trail running, hiking, open water, triathlon, and climbing. For indoor sports, it can track cycling, running, walking, swimming, elliptical machine, rowing machine, cycling, and free training.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 offers targeted pre-exercise data analysis and data recording analysis during the exercise and provide advice afterward. According to Huawei, having Huawei Watch GT 2 is like having a personal intelligent sports trainer to help you exercise better and safer. The new smartwatch is available in two variants, the 46mm retailed at $275 and the 42mm priced at around $250. Both will be available in October.
