With its high impact tempo and choreography, it comes as no surprise that BLACKPINK's Boombayah was the top choice for the soundtrack of Netlfix's latest action feature Wu Assassins.
Every clip from Wu Assassins exerts a measurable force of up to 1,800 pounds per square inch so please don't sit too close to the screen, Netflix teased about the film, and the action packed sequences intersped with BLACKPINK's Boombayah provided the perfect complement for action and entertainment, Polygon reported.
Wu Assassins stars Indonesian martial arts superstar Iko Uwais who headlined the action packed Raid Redemption, Merentau and Netflix hits like The Night Comes for Us and Triple Threat. This will be the first time Uwais will star in a full action series. After the trailer was released, the use of BLACKPINK's debut single Boombayah has been lauded by many action fans because its global appeal. The Boombayah MV even broke the record as the first Kpop debut MV to break the 650 million views mark so the collaboration has helped drum up even more excitement for Kpop fans as well as action afficionadoes.
Meanwhile, the Korea Business Research Institute has released the latest results of Top Female Idol Group for the month of July which saw BLACKPINK's Jennie suffering a slip from last June's top position, Soompi reported.
This month, the organization reported that MAMAMOO's Hwasa has dethroned BLACKPINK Jennie to take the #1 position with 2.09 million points. Red Velvet's Irene maintained her position at #2 with 2.04 million points. The third spot was secured by Cosmic Girls' Bona with 2.01 million points.
Rounding up the top 5 spots were Red Velvet's Joy with 1.96 million points and SinB of Gfriend with 1.95 million points. BLACKPINK's Jennie still made it to the Top 10 as she finished seventh place this month with 1.86 million points.
BLACKPINK's Jisoo, who also occupied the third spot in last month's survey, also fell in the rankings as she landed in the 14th spot. Lisa and Rose did not make it to the Top 30 rankings this July.
The survey shows the strong competition among female Kpop idols with only small differences separating those within the Top 10 positions. Among the top key search terms for Hwasa included "airport fashion," "revealing," and I Live Alone, while her highest-ranking related terms included "self-assured," "stand out," and "sexy."
In last month's survey, BLACKPINK's Jennie topped the list with keywords including "concert," "fashion," and Kill This Love Her highest ranking related terms included "cute," "delightful," and "sexy."
Korea Business Research Institute regularly releases brand reputation rankings for entertainment groups and personalities to measure the consumer participation, media coverage, communication, and community awareness indexes of celebrities.
